Set the Earth on Fire

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples, “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing.”  For Jesus, it meant that in revealing to us the true nature of his mission to us there would be a division between those who would accept through faith his offer of salvation, and those who would not.  He knew that even families would be divided in this way, and most of us know by our own experience the heartbreaking reality of that reality.

Are we ready to live in the midst of the fire that Jesus brings?  Can you and I speak and live the truth boldly in love, even if it is not accepted by family and friends?

This is exactly where I find myself today. In the midst of fire because of my beliefs and the lack of belief in some of those I love the most. So standing in that fire can be pretty hard some days. I just keep praying for the strength I know He can provide.

You are in my prayers today. Hang in there and keep trusting in God’s plan!
