Nothing Can Separate Us

Saint Paul

In the first reading today from his letter to the Romans, Paul declares his certainty in the ultimate justice  and reward that God will give to those who believe in Jesus Christ:

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor principalities,
nor present things, nor future things,
nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature will be able to separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Sometimes the difficulties of life cause us to wonder about whether we can be sure that Paul was correct.  It happens to all of us.  There are times when we doubt this promise.  When these thoughts creep in, we need to lean on each other.  Keep in mind, sisters and brothers, that the body of Christ has many members, with innumerable gifts.  Reach out to each other, ask for prayer, and pray for each other.  The promises of God are real, and nothing can separate us from those promises when we are joined in the body of Christ.
