This week is the 34th, and last, week of “Ordinary Time.” It is also the last week of the liturgical year. Ordinary Time is nothing more than all of the weeks of the year that do not fall within the liturgical seasons (Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter). It isn’t as exciting as the Christmas season, it isn’t as emotionally powerful as the Easter season. But Ordinary Time is not merely an interlude between seasons. It is the time during which we hear the wide range of the gospel, and learn how to integrate the reality of Jesus Christ into our daily lives. For most of us, this learning occurs slowly over time. It shapes us as followers of Jesus.
Let us celebrate how Jesus continues to perform extraordinary works in us in this Ordinary time!
