Fishers of Men

In the scripture we read today, Jesus calls his first disciples, and promises that they would no longer be fisherman, but would rather become fishers of men.  Can you imagine how confusing that call must have been to those simple men?  And yet … they responded to the call.  They gave up their familiar, comfortable lives and chose to put all of their trust in Jesus.

Jesus calls every one of us to walk with him throughout our lives.  Do we have the courage of  Andrew, Simon, James and John to turn from our comfortable lives and walk the path that takes us, along with Jesus, on the road to Calvary and beyond?

St. Andrew, St. Peter, St. James and St. John, pray for us that today we have the courage to toss aside our nets and follow Jesus, come what may.
