Do Not Babble

Right before he teaches his followers the Our Father, Jesus offers this admonishment:

In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Do we do this?  Do we sometimes find ourselves praying as if we were giving a theatrical speech, instead of humbly approaching the God who already knows our needs?

Let us use this Lenten day to simplify our prayer to God.
