Brokenhearted

suffering

Have you ever felt that your heart has been broken, and that nothing can ever be done to heal your sorrow?  I’m sure that many of us have felt this way.  For some of us it was the illness or death of a loved one.  For others it was a betrayal, a wrong or an abandonment.   Whatever the reason, most of us have faced a time when we felt that nothing in the world could ease our suffering.

What should we do when these inevitable times of profound sorrow occur? Should we just pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and soldier on until we reach the point where the pain is bearable?  Or can we turn to someone who loves us and wants nothing more than to help us to let our pain go?  Is there such a person?

Yes, there is.

We can turn to our father.  Our Heavenly Father.  The one who conceived us, individually, in his infinite love from the beginning of time.  The one who always forgives, always loves, always comforts.  He will heal the brokenhearted, if only we ask Him.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.

He longs for us.  His love endures forever.
