Suffer for Doing Good

In today’s second reading, Peter explains to us the necessity of recognizing the sacred nature of Jesus as Lord in our hearts.

Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts.
Always be ready to give an explanation
to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope,
but do it with gentleness and reverence,
keeping your conscience clear,
so that, when you are maligned,
those who defame your good conduct in Christ
may themselves be put to shame.
For it is better to suffer for doing good,
if that be the will of God, than for doing evil.

This is an important teaching.  Without a personal recognition of the sanctified Christ, we might weaken in our faith and its works if it is maligned by others.

Jesus is Lord, and there is no other.  What we do and say in his name is unassailable, even if we suffer for our testimony.

Remain faithful to Jesus!
