I Will See You Again

I love this painting by the 19th century Frenchwoman Anne Francois Janmot which depicts what it will be like in heaven.  In her vision, Mothers will be reunited with their children and we will all see our friends and loved ones.

This is what we all hope that paradise will be, perfect union with God and with one another forever.  In today’s gospel passage from John, Jesus reminds his disciples that whatever the sufferings and deprivations they will have to endure during their lives on earth, they will seem as nothing when they finally receive their heavenly reward.

Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn,
while the world rejoices;
you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.
When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived;
but when she has given birth to a child,
she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy
that a child has been born into the world.
So you also are now in anguish.
But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice,
and no one will take your joy away from you.

Let your hearts rejoice.  In heaven you and your loved ones will see each other again!

    Relate very much to these words today. My dear father passed 32 years ago today
    and his 62nd birthday was yesterday, 5/29. I hope we will be reunited with loved
    ones after meeting our God!
