Talk to Jesus

A couple of days ago, I was listening to a talk given by a priest addressing our need to confess our sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  He addressed the typical objections that he hears, including the classic complaint that we should not have to confess our sins  to a man, and instead should simply confess our sins to God. The priest had a wonderful response.  He said that he tells people to “confess your sins to Jesus and I’ll just listen in.”

What a great way of helping people to begin to understand the meaning of the priest’s role as acting in persona Christi.  It is through the ears of the priest that Christ hears our sins and through the voice of the priest that Christ offers us forgiveness.

So go to confession, talk to Jesus, and let the priest listen in.  The forgiveness you will receive can change your life!

Hey Gary – How is Ellen?? I just found out about her problem this morning! Is she feeling any better? The group is praying for her and I am too. Fr. K.
