God Causes the Growth

What is our role in growing the kingdom of God?  Is the responsibility on us, our spiritual leaders, or is our role to get out of the way and let the Lord do the work?  In our first reading today, Paul tells us that the growth is brought about by God.

Therefore, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything,
but only God, who causes the growth.
He who plants and he who waters are one,
and each will receive wages in proportion to his labor.
For we are God’s co-workers;
you are God’s field, God’s building.

God’s building?  What could that mean?

Perhaps it means that we are called to be a safe place for God to do his work.  Perhaps we are called to draw to ourselves those who are seeking the answers that only God can give.

Plant and water so that God can grow faith.

  1. Nancy Novicki says:

    We will draw others to Jesus the more we nurture our faith and give witness to
    what we believe! The harder we work, the greater the reward!
