Have you ever thought about how lucky we are to live in the time after Jesus? Or about how many people in history longed to see the day that the savior would come and redeem humanity, but were born too soon? In today’s gospel passage, Jesus reminds the disciples (and us) of how fortunate we are.
Turning to the disciples in private he said,
“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
For I say to you,
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see,
but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”
Jesus is the one who brings life to the world. Happy are we who know him!
