Among Us

Given that Jesus has already accomplished the work of salvation, why is it that we so often act as if we are in this world by ourselves?  Why do we pine for the coming of God’s kingdom?  Do we not know that with the entry of Jesus into the world the Kingdom of God is at hand for all of us?  Jesus helps us to understand this reality in today’s gospel passage from Luke.

Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come,
Jesus said in reply,
“The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed,
and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’
For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.”

Jesus has already done the work.  We belong to him.  There is no excuse for not exercising kingdom living.

Behold, the Kingdom of God is here among us.  Shouldn’t we live in it?

Gary, how do you exercise kingdom living. Does it mean living the Word?

What a great question! To me, kingdom living is the freedom of knowing that whatever failings I have, no matter how often I fall into sinfulness, Jesus has my back. I don’t have to worry that I am “good” enough to be saved, Jesus came to save the unworthy!
