How are your preparations for Christmas going?  This is a question that most of us think about as December 25th comes closer.  But are we allowing ourselves to be seduced by the secular culture of our times?  Are we worried about getting the perfect gift instead of appreciating that Jesus is the gift?  Listen to the words of Isaiah in today’s first reading.

A voice cries out:
In the desert prepare the way of the LORD!
Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God!
Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill shall be made low;
The rugged land shall be made a plain,
the rough country, a broad valley.
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together;
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Material gifts come and go.  Most are quickly forgotten.  A relationship with the Lord lasts forever.

Maranatha.  Come, Lord Jesus.
