The Eternal God

What is the nature of God?  He is inscrutable, but we do get glimpses of him throughout the scriptures.  Today’s reading from Isaiah reveals to us part of the essence of God, his eternal nature.

Do you not know
or have you not heard?
The LORD is the eternal God,
creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint nor grow weary,
and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.
He gives strength to the fainting;
for the weak he makes vigor abound.
Though young men faint and grow weary,
and youths stagger and fall,
They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength,
they will soar as with eagles’ wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint.

The Lord has always been and always will be.  The hope for each of us is that we will share in life with the eternal God until the end of time.  How can we, who are so sinful, hope to share life with the Lord?  Only through faith in Christ Jesus.  By his sacrifice we are made worthy before our Father.  Jesus is the way to eternity.

Maranatha.  Come, Lord Jesus.
