Keep His Word

In our first reading today, John reminds us of our obligation to keep the commandments given to us by Christ.

The way we may be sure that we know Jesus
is to keep his commandments.
Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not keep his commandments
is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoever keeps his word,
the love of God is truly perfected in him.
This is the way we may know that we are in union with him:
whoever claims to abide in him ought to walk just as he walked.

What does Jesus require of us?  That we love one another as he loved us.  How do we do that?  We are charitable to each other, we are merciful to each other, we are forgiving of each other.

Love in Christ has no limitations.

One Response to Keep His Word

  1. Nancy Novicki says:

As we talk the talk that we love Jesus, we must walk the walk, loving and forgiving
others, which isn’t always easy! Can you even imagine what Jesus deals with? I’m
thinking about myself on a ” bad” day and sometimes I can’t stand me! Thank you
Jesus for loving, forgiving and understanding me which sometime can be challenging!
