Return to Me

He is the God of Abraham.  He is the God of Jacob.  He is the God of Moses, David and Samuel.  He is the God of Mary, Joseph and John the Baptist. He is our God.  His Son gave his life for our salvation, so that we could be freed from the penalty of sin.  Despite all that he has done for us, we continue to fail and fall into sin which separates us from God.

And what does our God do in the face of our rejection of Him?  He calls us back.  His longing for us is endless.

Even now, says the LORD,
return to me with your whole heart,
with fasting, and weeping, and mourning;
Rend your hearts, not your garments,
and return to the LORD, your God.
For gracious and merciful is he,
slow to anger, rich in kindness,
and relenting in punishment.
Perhaps he will again relent
and leave behind him a blessing,
Offerings and libations
for the LORD, your God.

How should we respond to God’s merciful call?  By returning to Him with our whole heart.

One Response to Return to Me

  1. LeeSurkin says:

    Jesus tapped me on the shoulder and said, Lee, why are you resisting me? I said, I’m not resisting you! He said, You gonna follow me? I said, I’ve never thought about that before! He said, When you’re not following me, you’re resisting me.
