Hallowed Be Thy Name

Yahweh.  Jehovah.  I AM.  Our Father.

The name of the Lord God is hallowed, holy.  In ancient times, to even speak the name of God was to risk death.  Today so many of us treat God’s holy name with disrespect, even to the point of using it as a curse.  He who created all that exists is worthy to be praised, not disrespected.  I repent of my sin in this regard.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

“This is how you are to pray:

‘Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.’

The Lord God is great, worthy of our worship.  Speak his holy name in love and give thanks for all he has done.

    Thanks for the reminder. Hearing people use his name in vane is like a sour note to my ears. There are so many who lack the vocabulary necessary to get their ideas across to others.

  2. Nancy Novicki says:

    Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord, our God, in vain & every head should
    bow at the name of Jesus!
