Sometimes it is good to sit back and take in the wondrous gift we have in our Lord Jesus Christ. I think that is what Saint Paul was trying to tell Timothy in today’s first reading. He wanted to emphasize that what Jesus has accomplished by the works of his Church throughout the world is only part of the gift.
I am writing you,
although I hope to visit you soon.
But if I should be delayed,
you should know how to behave in the household of God,
which is the Church of the living God,
the pillar and foundation of truth.
Undeniably great is the mystery of devotion,
Who was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated in the spirit,
seen by angels,
proclaimed to the Gentiles,
believed in throughout the world,
taken up in glory.
Jesus is the Lord, the great I AM. We can only dimly perceive his glory. He is so much more than we can comprehend. Perhaps one day we will see him as the angels do, worshipping him in spirit and truth.
