Believe in Your Heart

What does it take to be one of God’s chosen ones?  To believe in the one he has sent for our salvation.  There is nothing that any of us can do by our own efforts that will save us. Rather, it is what we do through our faith in Christ that is pleasing to the Father.  How can we accomplish this?  By believing in our hearts that Jesus is Lord and rose from the dead.

Brothers and sisters:
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
For one believes with the heart and so is justified,
and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
The Scripture says,
No one who believes in him will be put to shame.
There is no distinction between Jew and Greek;
the same Lord is Lord of all,
enriching all who call upon him.
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Remember, my brothers and sisters, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.  We must believe this in our hearts. Without faith in him we are nothing.  It is our faith in Jesus that gives rise to the good works that are pleasing to the Lord.

  1. Lee Surkin says:

Some Christians are content to merely exist until they die. They don’t want to risk anything, to believe God, to grow or mature. They refuse to believe his Word, and have become hardened in their unbelief. Now they’re living just to die!
Trust your own instincts, go inside, follow your heart. Right from the start. go ahead and stand up for what you believe in. As you will learn, that’s the path to happiness.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. For the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is with you always, BELIEVE!

  2. Jeff Kline says:

“Believe in your heart”…. Is Jesus God or is he Man? So many throughout history seem to have stumbled at making an either/or choice. Not either/or, but Both true God and true Man. As Lee says, go to the source: the Holy Spirit has provided us the Church to teach and guide us, with the Bible, Tradition and the Church’s inerrant teaching authority (the Magisterium).
Come Holy Spirit, help me to believe in the Way, the Truth and the Life, and then to live in accord with the Father’s holy will.
