Return to Me

Have you ever concluded that you are unworthy of God’s love and forgiveness?  It’s not true. Even if we have turned away he longs for us.  This is one of the lessons of Lent, that God calls us to return to him no matter how far we have wandered.

Even now, says the LORD,
return to me with your whole heart,
with fasting, and weeping, and mourning;
Rend your hearts, not your garments,
and return to the LORD, your God.
For gracious and merciful is he,
slow to anger, rich in kindness,
and relenting in punishment.
Perhaps he will again relent
and leave behind him a blessing,
Offerings and libations
for the LORD, your God.

On Ash Wednesday, we are reminded of God’s call to us.

Turn away from sin and believe in the gospel.
