A Roaring Lion

In today’s first reading, Saint Peter gives what is probably the best advice that any of us will ever get.  Be sober and vigilant.

Be sober and vigilant.
Your opponent the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour.
Resist him, steadfast in faith,
knowing that your brothers and sisters throughout the world
undergo the same sufferings.
The God of all grace
who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus
will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you
after you have suffered a little.
To him be dominion forever. Amen.

The Devil is after each of us.  It is sad that many people, even many Catholics, do not believe in the existence of Satan.  They are wrong.  The greatest trick of the Evil One is to convince us that he does not exist.

Resist him.  Pray to Jesus for guidance and strength.
