Consider Your Own Calling

What is your calling?  It is what God wants you to do with your life so as to glorify his son Jesus Christ.  Each of us has a distinct calling suited to our individual gifts and talents. Perhaps you are a powerful speaker, or a talented musician.  More likely, though, is the possibility that you are a good listener, have a friendly face or are generous to those in need.  Whatever your calling, Jesus  needs you.

Consider your own calling, brothers and sisters.
Not many of you were wise by human standards,
not many were powerful,
not many were of noble birth.
Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise,
and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong,
and God chose the lowly and despised of the world,
those who count for nothing,
to reduce to nothing those who are something,
so that no human being might boast before God.
It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus,
who became for us wisdom from God,
as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,
so that, as it is written,
Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.

If you are gifted you are called.  If you are called you are gifted.

One Response to Consider Your Own Calling

  1. Lee Surkin says:

Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God. If you listen to god, people will listen to you, because you will have something to say. If you will simply step out and do what He’s called you to do whether it’s to proclaim His Word, or to assist others through ministry, you’ll find yourself walking into the blessings of God and a greater fulfillment in your life than you ever dreamed possible!
