Our Brother’s Keeper

Are we our brother’s keeper?  Well, according to today’s gospel passage, the answer is yes.

Jesus said to his disciples,
“Things that cause sin will inevitably occur,
but woe to the one through whom they occur.
It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck
and he be thrown into the sea
than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.
Be on your guard!
If your brother sins, rebuke him;
and if he repents, forgive him.
And if he wrongs you seven times in one day
and returns to you seven times saying, ‘I am sorry,’
you should forgive him.”

Jesus wants us to help one another on the journey to holiness.  We are privileged to encourage, instruct, correct and motivate each other to live in the way of Christ.  This is the heart of Christian love.

    We do need to be reminded of this especially during this election. There has been so much negative campaigning going on that it is difficult to separate what is happening. We are at a loss no matter what happens without turning to God our father, Mary our mother and Jesus our brother for their help.
