Called to be Holy

By the gift of baptism we are made holy.  Our holiness is the gift that we offer to God.  We enhance our God given holiness by prayer, works of mercy, almsgiving and reception of the Eucharist.

Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,
and Sosthenes our brother, to the church of God that is in Corinth,
to you who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy,
with all those everywhere who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours.  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you preserve yourself in holiness?

No man should desire to be happy who is not at the same time holy. He should spend his efforts in seeking to know and do the will of God, leaving to Christ the matter of how happy he shall be. Mother Teresa once said: Holiness does not consist in doing extraordinary things. It consists in accepting, with a smile, what Jesus sends us. It consists in accepting and following the will of God.”

My meditation topic for this week:
What does it mean that God is Holy? What does that word mean for me? Can I really know what it feels like to be Holy?
