The Brokenhearted

Psalm 34 is one that  should give us peace and hope. It should also help us to understand that it is not our responsibility to right every wrong and confront evildoers. After all, the Lord reminds us that it is He who confronts those who perpetuate evil.

But there is more to this wonderful song of David.  God promises that he is close to the brokenhearted and rescues them from their distress.

The LORD confronts the evildoers,
to destroy remembrance of them from the earth.
When the just cry out, the LORD hears them,
and from all their distress he rescues them.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.
Many are the troubles of the just man,
but out of them all the LORD delivers him.

He watches over all his bones;
not one of them shall be broken.
The LORD redeems the lives of his servants;
no one incurs guilt who takes refuge in him.

Trust in the Lord.  Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by the difficulties of your daily comings and goings.  Just give your heart over to the Lord all day every day.  If you can do that, most of the annoyances and troubles of the day won’t get you off track.
